Howdy. We’ve been creating visual identities, online and printed communications since 1999. We’re good thinkers, both creatively and strategically, and we pride ourselves in our ability to listen to, and understand, our clients to find out what’s unique about them so that we produce work that's individual, bold and effective.
We are
Neil Smith and Sharon Clampin
We’re experienced
As a company we have over 20 years experience. As individuals... don’t ask. Nothing can phase us. Over the years we’ve worked for charities, think tanks, retailers, train companies, banks, cosmetics companies, political parties and everything in between.
We listen
By listening to you and your stakeholders, we find out what’s special and unique about your business so that we can produce work that gets results. Listening is the key to producing great design work.
We think
In fact, we don’t stop thinking. We think creatively. We think strategically. We find that thinking a bit more, and a bit harder even when we feel we’ve ‘cracked it’ is the key to producing great design work. That and listening, of course.
We simplify
Producing beautiful and effective design is often about stripping away the unnecessary fluff and keeping things uncomplicated.
We’re literate
We understand the importance of words in communicating your message. We won’t let a fancy visual idea overpower the words unless it helps tell the story in a more powerful and effective way. We’ve also been known to pick up the odd misplaced apostrophe.
We’re value for money
We’re lean. You don’t pay for a fancy studio or layers of managers. We agree a fee up front and stick to it. You won’t get billed for extras unless they’ve been discussed and agreed before the work is started.
What do our clients think?
Howdy are highly creative, cost effective and have excellent project management skills, ensuring work is always delivered on time, to budget with great results. They have shown themselves to be invaluable in helping the organisations I have worked for to project a strong, consistent brand with their excellent, well considered designs. I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.
Phil Hesmondhalgh, Former Head of Marketing and Fundraising, Certitude
“Howdy have long been my favourite design studio. They always have an interesting, fresh solution to whatever communication problem I throw at them. Not only are they extremely talented designers, they are a pleasure to work with. I recommend them unequivocally to anyone who wants first-class design with a sense of humour thrown in.”
Jocelyn Hillman, Chief Executive, Working Chance
I just wanted to register my thanks for a job well done. It was an extremely tight schedule and throughout the process it was a genuine pleasure working with you. Thank you also for the flexibility in accommodating sudden last minute demands and changes – that was much appreciated. We look forward to the launch of the report.
Paul Ong, World Health Organization Centre for Health Development, Kobe, Japan
“In a word, I am awe-struck. The books are fabulous. Beautiful. Professional. I can’t wait to show them off to our clients and colleagues at our book signing.”
Teresa Alpert, Lowe Worldwide
“Howdy did an excellent rebranding job for us which has greatly impressed our staff, clients and competition alike. They were also a pleasure to work with throughout.”
Mark Speed, IFF
”I recently stayed at Lifehouse in Thorpe-Le-Soken and I must say great part of my pleasure came from enjoying its great visual identity so I just want to congratulate you: what a brilliant example of fluid identity, how perfectly it conveys the spirit of the place!!“
Maria Cristina Venanzi, Lifehouse guest
